San Ramon

Beautiful landscapes, good schools, safe neighborhoods, and a variety of housing options make this city a great place to live.

Welcome to San Ramon

San Ramon, located just 34 miles east of San Francisco, has that great combination of beautiful landscapes, a thriving business community, excellent schools, safe neighborhoods, and a variety of housing options. Home to Chevron, 24-hour Fitness, AT&T, and GE, this urban city offers homeowners shopping, fine dining, and nightlife in nearby Danville and Walnut Creek. A brand new downtown area is due to open in San Ramon in 2018, featuring a one-acre tree-lined piazza full of shops, restaurants, and a multiscreen theatre. With 56 parks, 2 public libraries, miles of hiking trails, public pools, performing arts venues, and community center events, this city has a lot to offer!

Outside of the town center grasslands and oak orchards abound. These lands were formerly occupied by the Seunen people, an Ohlone / Costanoan group who built their homes near creeks until Mission San Jose used the land for grazing. Then came the Gold Rush (read: stagecoach), and later the railroad, but agriculture and ranching remained predominant until the 1960’s when Interstate 680 brought housing development with it.

Recreation in San Ramon includes wilderness trails, hiking, cycling, camping, golfing, and walking.
